CRAWLEY ANGLING SOCIETY MATCH RULES

  1. Match captain of the day to be appointed by the match secretary if he/she is unable to attend. Match captain must be a CAS member. Match captain/ match secretary to decide bounds and time of starting and finishing.
  2. Matches will start and finish on a signal from the match captain/match secretary.
  3. All anglers to park cars in the designated area.
  4. All matches to be pegged, unless inappropriate. No roving.
  5. One rod and one hook to be used. Other tackle may be made up but not used or baited.
  6. Wading is permitted providing the angler can touch the near bank if the depth is greater than his knees.
  7. All keep nets must be knotless and must be 6'(183cms) long and 18" (80cm) in diameter or 6' long if rectangular.
  8. No member shall fish within 25 meters either side of electricity cable or pylon. The society accept no responsibility for any injury or damage suffered as a result of a breach of this rule.
  9. No breaking of water prior to start of fishing, except for positioning of keep net, making up ground bait or checking depth for float fishing and positioning of tackle box.
  10. Ground bait may be mixed but not entered into the water before start of the match.
  11. All fish to be hooked, played and landed without assistance, except for junior members and also members physically disabled.
  12. No competitor to be weighed in with litter in there swim.
  13. No angler shall weigh there own catch, but shall be able to witness that the record is correct. All catches weighed-in must be in the presence of two witnesses.
  14. No dead fish may be weighed in. All live fish, except pike and game, are eligible for weigh-in.
  15. All fish taken from society waters must be carefully returned thereto, except dead, badly diseased or badly injured fish which should be humanely destroyed.
  16. Moving swims is not permissible.
  17. Crawley angling society's championships to be decided on points in the following way:
    1st place = 6 points 2nd place = 5 points
    3ed place = 4 points 4th place = 3 points
    5th place = 2 points 6th place = 1 point
         No points for weighing in or attendance.
  18. The match captain/match secretary will be assisted for the weigh-in by a nominated person.
  19. Cash prizes will be awarded by the match captain/match secretary on the day except in the case of any dispute. Any disputes unresolved by the match captain/ match secretary on the day shall be held in abeyance and resolved at the next available committee meeting. Any complaints must be received in writing by the match captain/match secretary prior to such committee meeting. Trophies will be presented at the annual general meeting.
  20. The match captain or match secretary may cancel or change the venue if venue is unfishable at time of meeting.
  21. In the event of match fixture being cancelled through circumstances beyond control, every effort will be made to re-schedule at a later date.
  22. Any person infringing, breaking or disregarding any of the above rules will be disqualified from the competition by the match captain/match secretary.
  23. Cash prizes to be distributed between winning places. Number of cash prizes awarded at the discretion of the match captain/match secretary, but generally: 1-10 competitors 1st only, 11-15 competitors 1st and 2nd, 16+ competitors 1st 2nd and 3rd.
  24. Anglers must not move whilst fishing more than 1 meter from their designated peg/swim.
  25. All anglers on matches shall fish from designated swims or no closer than 10m from the next angler.
  26. On stillwater swims, no fishing more than half-way to next peg on either side or over half-way if opposite.
  27. On rivers, no casting or feeding upstream. Anglers may trot down to next peg only that is being fished.
  28. Club matches are for club members only.
  29. All lakes/rivers on which competitions are scheduled will be closed to other members at midnight the previous day, except for evening competitions, in which case the lakes/rivers will be closed 6 hours prior to the draw.
