Crawley vs Slaugham (Furnace Lake -
29/06/08)
On another glorious sunny day Crawley AS made the short trip to Furnace Lake for their
away fixture against Slaugham AS. This venue is renowned for huge weights of carp
but to achieve this it helps to have a good idea of which tactics to use on the day.
The top four places went to anglers who all chose the pellet waggler method.
First place went to a Slaugham angler Stuart Williamson. Stuart ended the day with a
fantastic 150lbs 8ozs of carp. Second place went Crawley's in form angler, Phil
Harris. Phil successfully employed the pellet waggler to amass an excellent total of
112lb. Third place went to Slaugham's Martin Tobias with 100lb 8oz, another huge
weight which would have been enough to win on most other venues. Lenny Wells
finished fourth for Crawley with 76lb which included an arm aching 15lb Mirror Carp.
Team Totals were Slaugham 314lb and Crawley 356lb 8oz. When you consider the fact that
Slaugham only had five anglers against Crawley's ten you have to congratulate the home
team for a superb performance.
