LEN WAITE MEMORIAL  -
11/05/2008
This year the match was fished at the Newpond and doubled up as the first
round of the Home Championship.
It was a blistering hot day for the first match of the new season and not normally
ideal fishing conditions which proved to be the case.  Phil Harris made an excellent
start to the campaign taking first place and the 6 points.  He chose the Method
Feeder using corn as bait to catch four carp for a total of 22lb 10oz.
In second place was club chairman Lenny Wells who only returned the day before from a
weeks fishing trip in Devon.  Using borrowed gear he managed to catch two carp on the
pellet waggler that were cruising the lake centre, plus a three pound bream on the bomb
using bread. His catch included the biggest fish on the day, an 8lb 10oz carp. In third
place was Ian Cooper, he used the pole and alternated bait between corn and maggots for an
11lb 10oz total.
A newcomer to the junior match fishing scene was Ian's son Dan who picked up the Junior
Jarvie Cup with a bream of 1lb 8oz.
