Crawley vs Faulkners (Tilgate - 20/07/08)
This lake has proved a challenge for match anglers recently and on the day was no
exception. Most anglers struggled to find fish and to be in with a chance carp were
needed. Of the nineteen anglers who took part only four managed to find any carp and
three of these were from the home side.
In first place was Paul Hearsey for Crawley, he pulled peg 31 at the draw and over the
years this swim has featured often. Paul landed his first carp on the pole tight to
a reed bed but the larger fish at this lake are difficult to land on this method so he
switched to the feeder and ended up with a decent 28lb total. Crawley's Steve Hill
caught only one fish but at 10lb it was enough to give him second place from peg 27.
Third place went to Faulkners' Paul Brinkhurst on peg 28. After losing a few tough
fighting carp he managed to land one plus a few silvers for a total weight of 9lbs 10oz.
The final team totals were - Faulkners 17lb 3oz and Crawley A.S 70lb 4oz.
18 Anglers - Total Weight 90lb 7oz
