Crawley vs Copthorne (Buchan Park - 24/08/2008) This match turned out to be disastrous on two counts. It rained heavily for most of the match and the catch rate was terrible. Of the 19 anglers who took part only 8 weighed in and none of those were from the visiting team.In first place was Steve Hill on peg 15, he took a leaf out of Phil Harris's book and fished corn over bomb. He had to wait two hours for his first fish but ended with the winning weight of 35lb 11oz of bream. Steve also picked up the kitty for the biggest fish with a Bream of 3lb 9oz. In second place was Phil Harris. He has perfected the 'bomb over corn' method which gave him his nickname of 'Bomber Harris' and over the years has a fantastic match record using it. On this occasion he only managed second with 11lb 4oz from peg 25. Third was Gary Toland in peg 24, he only had three bites the whole 6 hours but they yielded him three fish for a total of 8lb 6oz. Gary used open ended groundbait feeder. 19 Anglers - Total Weight 81lb 14oz
