Crawley vs Chichester (Newpond - 12/10/2008) This was Chichester's first visit to the Crawley water and they were impressed by what
they saw, but would the lake perform as good as it looks? In first place was a Chichester angler Mick Duran. Mick pulled peg 31 at the draw and he wasn't to know that this has a reputation for being a flyer. He fished pole tight to the reed bed and did a brilliant job of bullying the fish into open water before they could escape into the reeds and finished with superb 60lb of carp. Second place also went to a visiting angler. Gary Thomas again chose pole on peg 25 and bagged an excellent 43lb 8oz of carp, this despite losing the top three sections of his pole that were pulled in by a large fish. After the match Gary stripped off an dived into the lake where the sunken pole was last seen and amazingly managed to retrieve it. Terry Archer finished third for Crawley from peg 18. Terry also used pole in the margins and after losing six large fish manage to land a respectable haul of 41lb 6oz of hard fighting carp. The final result made the visitors long journey worthwhile with them totalling 184lb 2oz to the home sides 143lb 10oz. 20 Anglers - Total Weight 327lb 12oz
