XMAS Competition - 11/12/2005

Sixteen anglers braved the weather to compete in the Xmas match at the Newpond.   Everyone had to clear the ice from their pegs before fishing and the prospects for a good day looked poor.  In the end most anglers caught fish with the odd carp deciding the top places.

Terry Forrest won the match after managing to land a 10lb 8oz carp ten minutes after the final whistle.  This boosted his total weight to 12lb 11oz well clear of Pete Sharpe with 8lb.  Two excellent roach were caught weighing 1lb 1oz and 1lb 7oz.   The largest of these was taken by Steve Hill fishing from the wall.
