XMAS Competition - 19/12/2004 Twenty two anglers braved the weather to compete in the match at the Newpond. This was the last round of the Home Championship with seven anglers still in with a chance of claiming the trophy. Gary Toland drew one of the fancied pegs at the top end of the lake and caught six carp, including a 10lb 4oz fish in a 35lb total. Gary caught most of his fish tight against the overhanging trees on peg 33, using a pole and double pinkie bait. The six points for the win was enough to take the Home Championship title.
Second on the day was Steve Jones with 14lb 2ozs of carp from peg 32. In the overall Club Championship competition Barry Wheeler wrapped up the Club Champion title for the first time. Gary Toland's win pushed him up in to the runner-up spot in the table. 22 Anglers - Total Weight 76lb 13oz |
