THAMES TROPHY - 19/09/2004 Only two anglers made the annual trip to the Thames. This year the venue was by the Motorway bridge at Chertsey. Lenny Wells started the match fishing under the bridge but after a blank first hour and a half decided to move downstream a few pegs. Fishing a 6 metre whip and feeding hemp and caster with caster on the hook, Lenny caught steadily in the second half of the match. His 6lb 7oz total included a mixture of dace and roach up to the 1lb mark. This was enough to beat Nick Ardley who caught smaller fish for a 2lb 12oz total. The win makes it a hat-trick of triumphs for Lenny in the competition. |
