Pike Trophy Round 1 - 23/11/2003 This year the first round was held at Buchan Park. The forecast was for rain, rain and more rain and for once the weatherman got it right. Conditions were not good with the extra water adding some colour to what is usually a clear water venue. There were 9 anglers fishing a variety of methods but it soon became clear that the pike wanted their food nailed to the bottom. In total there were 7 pike caught from 2 areas of the lake. 5 from the point area and 2 from the wall. All fell to float fished dead baits with sprat, smelt, mackerel and roach being successful. Several anglers fished lures for part of the match but no takes were reported. At the final whistle Clive Howell took first place with 13lb 12oz and second was Ashley Bonwick Smith with 6lb 9oz.
