Ladies Competition/Committee Tankard

Couples Competition/ Senior Citizens Competition

Newpond -14/07/2002

This was the first match in which the newly stocked carp put in an appearance.   The weights recorded were impressive and well above those typical at the venue in recent seasons. Encouragingly this dramatic improvement was evident for most of the competing anglers and not limited to a few hot pegs.

Barry Wheeler won the Committee Tankard with an excellent 30lb 12oz of carp from Peg 31.  Barry fished the pole and pellet combination against the weed to take a steady stream of carp throughout the match.  A close second was Jack Sorrell on peg 5.   Jack fished the waggler and corn to take a mixture of bream and small carp finishing just a one fish short of the winner.

The ladies competition was won convincingly by Wendy Vincent with 16lb 8oz of carp on the waggler.  The winning couple were once again Terry Forrest and Wendy Vincent with an impressive combined total of 43lb 6oz.
