THAMES TROPHY - 29/09/2002 Eleven anglers competed for the Thames Trophy at Laleham and fishing proved to be difficult due to the clear water conditions following the recent dry spell. Lenny Wells won the trophy for the second year in a row taking 9lb of Gudgeon on the whip. In second place was Steve Jones who switched to an inside line after 2 blank hours on the feeder. Noticing gudgeon feeding on discarded bait, he used a makeshift whip consisting of the top two sections of a waggler rod to amass 230 fish for 7lb 12oz. In the Transport Trophy the leader prior to the match Paul Shepherd did not compete, but still came out on top as the chasing anglers failed to pick up necessary points on the day. Phil Harris still leads the overall Club Championship by four points, with a number of anglers still in contention for the title close behind. 11 Anglers - Total Weight 23lb 5oz Full Results
